Elgin High booster club post-game gathering tonight

The Elgin High School Booster Club will host a post-game gathering tonight at Rolling Knolls Country Club in Elgin immediately following the Maroons' homecoming football game against Waubonsie Valley. All are welcome. The first 20 people there will receive a gift.

On Oct. 27, the "E" Booster Club presents "Booster Bonanza III - Masquerade," a silent auction and buffet dinner from 7 to 11:30 p.m. at the Rolling Knolls Country Club in Elgin. Costumes are optional. Proceeds benefit all Elgin High athletes.

South Elgin High School Cheer Clinic: The South Elgin High School JV and varsity cheerleading squads will be hosting a cheer clinic for girls in grades 1-7 on Friday, October 5 from 4-6:30 p.m. at South Elgin.

In addition to review of motions, cheers, dance and jumps, participants will perform at the South Elgin High School sophomore football game on Saturday, October 6.

The clinic is an opportunity for participants to learn the fundamentals of the sport. Each participant will receive a complimentary T-shirt. Cost will be $20 per participant. Contact South Elgin High School for further information.

Great Lakes Travelers baseball: The Great Lakes Travelers baseball program will be holding tryouts for the 2008 summer season Sunday at Bruce Ream Park in Hampshire.

The 13u and 14u tryouts will begin at 8 a.m. and run until 9:30 a.m. followed by the 16u and 18u tryouts at 10 a.m.

A player's age on April 30, 2008 dictates which level they will participate at. The Travelers are a nationally recognized program with 3 teams finishing in the Top 25 nationally with Triple Crown Baseball in 2007. Each team will play local, regional, and national tournaments. This program is open to all players interested from Northern Illinois.
