Round-up: North Stars cruise at East Aurora

St. Charles North's girls volleyball team gave up just 9 points in a 25-8, 25-1 win over East Aurora.

The North Stars (14-6, 7-0) powered past the Tomcats in Aurora. Annie Stoermer set 12 assists and had 5 aces and 5 digs.

DeKalb d. Batavia 25-16, 18-25, 26-24:ŒThe Bulldogs (8-11, 4-4) trailed the Barbs (4-4) 23-19 in the final game. They rallied to tie the score but DeKalb scored three of the final four points. Kristin Hoffman had 24 assists, 13 digs and 4 kills.

Boys soccer

St. Charles North 2, East Aurora 1: Vladimir Schlageter scored both North Star (11-3-1, 3-1) goals in the first half.

Boys golf

Big Northern meet:: Sam Schmalz shot a 78 to take third place individually and lead Burlington Central to a fourth-place team finish at the Big Northern Conference meet at Timber Pointe. Rockford Lutheran won the meet with a 320 but Byron, which had a 325, finished first overall in the league. Marengo was third in Thursday's meet with a 336, BC had a 359 and Hampshire finished fifth with a 362. Peter Cappas shot an 80 for the Rockets to finish sixth while Grant Yoder had an 83 to finish 11th for Hampshire.

Girls tennis

St. Charles East 6, Bartlett 1: Stefanie Youngberg of the Saints (9-3, 8-1) shut her opponent out in first singles and Amanda Gomez and Erin Bowman took first doubles 6-0, 6-2.

St. Charles North 7, Waubonsie Valley 0: Annemijn Koenen won first singles 6-4, 7-5 and Megan Gow took second singles 6-1, 6-0 for the North Stars (13-4, 7-1).

Geneva 7, DeKalb 0: No Viking (17-5, 7-0) lost more than one game in any set. Liz Bertrand and Krista Panko won first doubles 6-0, 6-0 while Mary Pelling and Alexa Rogers powered their way to a 6-1, 6-0 second doubles victory.

Rosary 5, Aurora Central Catholic 0:ŒThe Royals (11-7, 4-0-1) won all five matches by a 6-0, 6-0 count. Emily Reuland and Megan Tonner picked up singles wins.
