Hoffman Estates police searching for burglary suspect

Hoffman Estates police say an undisclosed amount of money was taken from a restaurant overnight Wednesday after it and two neighboring businesses were broken into.

The apparent break-ins occurred sometime between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday at Barrington Square Mall on the 2300 block of West Higgins Road at Barrington Road, Hoffman Estates police Sgt. Jim Campbell said.

He said windows were broken out at all three businesses, but apparently only one of the businesses, the restaurant, had anything stolen.

Campbell said an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

Police had no one in custody as of early Thursday and could not provide further details. Authorities also could not confirm reports that there were other break-ins at the same strip mall over the past few days.
