Roselle man dies after car strikes pole

Police confirmed a local man died this afternoon after he crashed a car into a pole in Roselle.

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the victim as a 70-year-old man from Roselle. His identity was being withheld pending family notification.

The time of death was 12:41 p.m., and the wreck happened in the 800 block of Nerge Road near the Plum Grove Road intersection.

Roselle police Sgt. John Lawson confirmed the death but had no further details.

The car ended up standing almost vertical on its rear bumper. No other cars were involved.

Emergency vehicles remained at the scene as of 3:30 p.m. Check dailyherald.com later for updates on this story.
