BG's Ayoub will be a Rambler

Ellen Ayoub, who ranks fifth on the all-time scoring list for Buffalo Grove girls basketball with 1,300 points in three seasons, has made a verbal commitment to play for Loyola University.

The 6-foot senior guard has been a three-year starter for the Bison, helping lead them to three sectional crowns and back-to-back Elite Eight appearances.

"I'm very, very happy for Ellen and her family," said Bison coach Tom Dineen. "This is something Ellen has worked extremely hard for since she was a freshman."

The Ramblers are coached by former Marian Catholic High School coach Shannon Reidy, who is now in her third season at Loyola.

"Loyola is a very good fit for Ellen," Dineen added. "She can probably step right in and play a lot right off the bat,"

Ayoub became the third Bison to commit to a Division I Chicago college.

Her teammates Allison and Maggie Mocchi will play at Northwestern.

"It's pretty remarkable to have one Division I player on your team," Dineen said. "But three on the same team really speaks highly of their abilities. It's nice for me. I'll get to see them play a lot."
