Get your tickets now for holiday housewalk in Mount Prospect

If you've ever wondered what it's like to peer into other people's well-decorated holiday homes, now is your chance with Mount Prospect's 20th annual Holiday Housewalk.

You'll be taken on a tour inside select homes along Lonnquist Boulevard and Main Street to see how homeowners decorate their abodes with holiday cheer.

The annual walk, sponsored by the Mount Prospect Historical Society, will run from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Nov. 30.

The walk is the traditional start for Mount Prospect's Winter Weekend, which includes a Saturday night winter parade.

"(The walk) is the meeting of history and entertainment," said Gavin Kleespies, executive director of the Mount Prospect Historical Society. "Some people go to see the inside of houses, while other go for the history of the house."

Homes along several blocks of Lonnquist Boulevard, east of Route 83, and one home on South Main Street will be featured.

The homes featured this year, both inside and outside, will be: 1 E. Lonnquist Blvd., 3 W. Lonnquist Blvd.; 707 S. Main St., 12 W. Lonnquist Blvd., 20 W. Lonnquist Blvd. and 115 W. Lonnquist Blvd.

Tickets are being sold for $20 each through Nov. 29 at various locations in the village.

On the day of the walk, all tickets will cost $22 and may only be purchased after 3 p.m. at the starting point of the walk: a tent set up on Lonnquist for the event.

"The housewalk is the society's largest fundraiser of the year," said Jill Tumberger, co-chairman of the event. "Its proceeds support the many educational endeavors of the society and help to pay for upkeep on our 100-year-old museum."
