Mount Prospect Teddy Bear Walk on Dec. 1

All teddy bears are invited to a party at the Mount Prospect Public Library, a story and a chance to meet Santa.

The library's annual Teddy Bear Walk starts at 10 a.m. Dec. 1 at the library, 10 S. Emerson St.

Children are expected to bring their teddy bears to listen to a short book read by a professional storyteller and presented by an actor, who'll play the characters.

Also, Ted E. Bear, a character who has showed up at the event through the years, will make another appearance, said Carolynn Muci, publicity assistant for the library.

Then, it's off to the Mount Prospect village hall next door to watch Santa arrive on a fire truck with Mrs. Claus.

And then it's back to the library for a visit with Santa, who will listen to what kids and teddy bears want for the holidays.

Snacks and juice will be served as well.

The library has been putting on this free event for the past 25 years with as many as 300 people showing up, Muci said.

It's generally for kids 6 years old and younger, but some 8-year-olds have been known to stop by, she said.

If you're not a Mount Prospect resident, that's OK, since residency is not a requirement.

But you must register, either by phone, in person or through the library's Web site, www.mppl.org.

For more information, call the library (847) 253-5675.
