New townhouses opening in Des Plaines

Following the closeout of Concord Commons, Hoffman Estates-based Lennar has just announced the grand opening of Concord Commons II, a new townhouse community in Des Plaines.

The new community of 34 maintenance-free townhouses is located along Northwest Highway just south of Seegers Road, adjacent to the original development. Concord Commons II features two townhouse floor plans measuring 1,721 square feet. Homes will include two to three bedrooms, 2½ baths and a two-car garage. For a limited time, pre-construction pricing is available on select homes from the $319,000s to the $340,000s. Two decorated models are available for viewing.

"Concord Commons was a big success with Des Plaines home buyers right from the start, with its prime location on the Northwest Highway corridor," said Leigh Nevers, vice president of marketing for Lennar. "But these new townhouses will also include some more high-end features, so we're expecting Concord Commons II to be very popular as it continues to meet pent-up demand in Des Plaines for new-construction homes."

Concord Commons II feature kitchens with GE Profile stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and hardwood flooring; cultured marble countertops and raised vanities in the master baths; an installed GE washer and dryer; brushed nickel hardware; and 12-inch ceramic tile flooring in the foyer and baths.

Buyers can choose from two three-story floor plans -- the Atwood and the Camden. In both plans, the main living areas are a half flight up from the foyer and include an eat-in kitchen, combined living/dining room and balcony. The finished lower level is a half flight down from the foyer. All bedrooms are located on the upper level.

"The Camden has three bedrooms, offering space to adapt to a family's changing needs. For example, buyers can use the extra bedrooms now for guests or as an exercise studio, but eventually set up a nursery or home office," said Nevers. "On the other hand, the Atwood has two bedroom suites with two full baths, which is nice if buyers want a more private, spacious master suite or if they share their home with a roommate."

Residents will pay a monthly assessment to provide for the maintenance of common areas and lawns, snow clearance and common-area insurance.

"Our experience at Concord Commons was that many of the buyers lead busy, professional lifestyles and don't want the upkeep of a single-family home," she said. "We expect to find the same trend at this new community."

Concord Commons II will be within walking distance of the Cumberland Metra station. Buyers will also have easy access to Pace bus routes, O'Hare airport and Interstates 90, 94 and 294. The community is located in between the restaurants and shopping of the downtown Mount Prospect and downtown Des Plaines.

The Concord Commons II Welcome Home Center and two decorated models are located at 702 Hanbury Drive, just off of Northwest Highway. To visit from 294 North, exit at Dempster and go west approximately one mile until it turns into Northwest Highway. From 294 South, exit at Golf Road and turn left. Take Golf Road to River Road and turn left, then go approximately 1.5 miles to Dempster and turn right. Proceed west on Dempster, which becomes Northwest Highway. The community is one mile west of downtown Des Plaines. The entrance will be on the right side of Northwest Highway.
