Briefs: Inland Western sells four buildings

OAK BROOK -- Inland Western Retail Real Estate Trust Inc. on Tuesday said it sold four office buildings for $270.8 million to KanAm Grund Kapitalanlagegesellschaft mbH, which bought the buildings for a German open-end real estate investment fund. The buildings are in Ontario, Canada; Minneapolis; Phoenix; and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Abbott sets goal to reduce emissions

LIBERTYVILLE TOWNSHIP -- Abbott on Tuesday pledged to reduce its total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 2 percent from 2006 to 2011. A member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Leaders program since 2006, Abbott has announced this goal as part of its ongoing plan to reduce its environmental footprint. Earlier this year Abbott committed to becoming "carbon neutral."
