Lab test to identify cancer drug effects
WESTMONT -- Targeted Molecular Diagnostics announced Wednesday the commercial availability of a new laboratory test to help identify colorectal cancer patients who are resistant to certain targeted monoclonal antibody therapies. K-ras mutations are known to be associated with resistance to drug inhibitors, especially in non-small cell lung cancer. Mutated K-ras genes have been detected in about 40 percent of metastatic colorectal cancers.
