Dunne leads Buffalo Grove to title

Buffalo Grove scored 137.05 points to capture the title at the seven-team Winter Tumbleland invitational hosted by Addison Trail on Saturday.

The Bison's Linda Dunne captured the all-around championship with a 9.0 average. Her effort included first places in the vault (9.1) and uneven parallel bars (9.2) and her 9.3 on floor exercise was good for fourth.

Teammate Christine Douthwaite was third in the all-around with an 8.8375 average. Douthwaite won floor (9.4), while finishing third in the vault (8.9) and balance beam (8.85)

Boys swimming

Rolling Meadows swam a solid meet at the Leyden Invitational finish runner-up to Downers Grove North 283-203. The host Eagles (174) finished third in the eight-team invite.

Tyler Diers, AJ Adams, Jeff Dykstra and Steve Gerbatsch won the 200-yard free relay for the Mustangs in 1:36.97. Meadows also scored some points with a 3:42.99 second in the 400 free relay by Luke Shafer, Adams, Dykstra and Gerbatsch.

Adams (23.86) and Diers (24.65) showed some depth by finishing 2-3 in the 50.

The Eagles led off the meet with a second-place finish in the medley relay (1:52.31) thanks to Andrew Saenz, Hernando, Toby Hwang, and Patrick Ahrens.

Ahrens was also second in the 200 (2:00.81) and third in the 500 (5:38.13). Hernando Sevilla added a pair of seconds in the 100 (51.97) and breaststroke (1:08.37).

Lake County invite: It was more than just a win in the 400-yard free relay for Libertyville.

When the Wildcats' quartet of Stephen Wimmer, Kegan Rogers, Ben Glick and John Blankenhorn touched out Barrington 3:16.17 to 3:16.80, Libertyville wrapped up a 267-point performance at the Lake County meet Saturday to edge second-place Lake Forest by a point.

Barrington (251) took third, followed by Stevenson (193), Mundelein (100), Warren (95), Deerfield (78), Vernon Hills (61), Zion-Benton (39) and host Highland Park (27).

Wimmer (54.21) and Rogers (54.31) added a 1-2 finish for the Wildcats in the butterfly. Daniel Lejeune (1:03.11) and Austin Hoover (1:03.29) also went 1-2 in the breaststroke.

Barrington won the medley relay in 1:39.74, thanks to Brian Marko, Justin Yu, Ben Redpath and Nick Santoro.

Yu added another first in the IM.

Duncan Partridge swam a 21.30 to set a pool record en route to winning the 50 free for Stevenson. He also took the 100 (48.13) before joining Jamie Clark, Greg Spigelman and Matt Duncan in the Patriots' winning 200 free relay.

Mundelein took third in the 200 free relay (1:34.68), thanks to Patrick Falconer, Zach Purol, Sean Trinka and Kevin Coughlin.

Warren's Kirk Gagliardo went 4:58.56 to finish third in the 500. Gordy Skeoch took sixth in the breaststroke (1:05.64) for Vernon Hills.

Girls bowling

Despite strong performances from runner-up Schaumburg (5,841) and third-place Prospect (5,890), the Lockport bowling invitational went to Morris with a 6,108 pinfall.

Conant took seventh with 5,649.

Prospect's Hannah Wrenn was the individual champion with a 1,439 series that included a 269 high game. Wrenn averaged a sizzling 239.83.

Teammate Ashley Ruszczak bowled a 213 on her way to a 1,181.

Schaumburg placed three bowlers in the top 10, led by Samantha Kelly's 1,264 sixth place. Her high game was a 256. Hailey Schneider (1,246) and Jodi Gawlik (1,242) finished ninth and 10th.

Pam Wawrzyniak led the Cougars in eighth place with a 1,254, including a 244.

Women's basketball

Harper College fell to 3-8 following a 78-42 loss to John Logan.

Larisi Coldebella led the Hawks with 13 points. Emily Vierneisel added 10, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Kassie Kissane had 6.
