Elk Grove Village spa closes after prostitution arrest
An Elk Grove Village massage parlor on Monday gave up its license to operate following a prostitution arrest in a police sting earlier this month.
Higgins Spa, 830 Higgins Road, faced losing its license at a hearing Monday.
A lawyer representing the business instead voluntarily relinquished the right to operate before a hearing could be held, officials said.
Its business license was suspended Dec. 12, after a police sting resulted in an arrest.
An undercover officer posing as a customer was offered a sex act by a Higgins Spa employee, 54-year-old Un Suk Park of Lombard, village officials said.
The officer at no time solicited the woman, Mayor Craig Johnson said.
Park is charged with prostitution. She is due back at the Rolling Meadows courthouse Jan. 10.
The owner, Bok Man Lee, of Chicago, couldn't be reached for comment Monday.
Police began an investigation after finding Internet chatter leading to the Higgins Spa, Johnson said. He praised the work of the Elk Grove Village police.
Higgins Spa was one of three businesses in Elk Grove Village licensed for massages.
