Former Lucent building gains tenant

Chicago-based Health Care Service Corp. said Wednesday it has signed a 15-year lease for one of its businesses to move into the Naperville office center formerly occupied by Lucent Technologies.

Hallmark Services Corp. will move later this year from Aurora to the Naperville Woods Center, 1000 and 1100 Warrenville Road. Hallmark processes claims and does other administrative work for Health Care Service companies, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, said HCSC spokesman Bob Kieckhefer.

"Our business has been expanding," said Kieckhefer. He declined to provide the cost of the lease.

Hallmark has about 1,000 employees who will be moving later this year into the new 257,000-square-foot office. A move date has yet to be scheduled, Kieckhefer said.

In 2006, the Naperville buildings were purchased for about $22 million by Chicago-based M&J Wilkow Ltd. and Minneapolis-based CarVal Investors.

"Hallmark will be our largest tenant and this will be the largest lease in square footage signed in the Chicago suburbs," said M&J Vice President John Wiechart.

In May 2006, the Daily Herald reported M&J Wilkow was working with the state, county and the Naperville Development Partnership to find tenants for the Naperville center. A portion of the Hallmark business had moved into that center that same year and leased about 52,000 square feet.

Other current tenants include University of Illinois, PayChex, USBank and KJWW Engineering.
