Foudy to make special appearance at youth soccer show

Julie Foudy knows all about leadership. She has a sports leadership academy.

She also is an expert on team building because of her valuable role for 17 years with United States women's national soccer.

That combination along with her extensive work as a sports broadcaster guarantee a captive audience when this Hall of Famer speaks at the Schaumburg Sports Center (1141 W. Irving Park Road) on Saturday, March 8.

"Lessons on Leadership and Team Building" will be the focus of Foudy's talk as she gives insight into strategies used by the national team and her role for 13 years as captain.

Foudy's appearance is part of the 2008 Illinois Youth Soccer Expo and Chicago FireFest. This is a free event open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

An autograph session with Foudy will be at 10 a.m., and she will be part of the panel for the "Town Hall Meeting" held by the Chicago franchise of the new Women's Professional Soccer.

In addition to featuring Foudy, this celebration of soccer will offer field demonstrations and seminars, the Chicago Fire's annual fan convention, a vendor show featuring over 50 exhibitors, interactive games, giveaways and much more.
