Services held for woman found dead outside Prospect Heights library

Police continue to investigate the death of Gina Dominick, the 20-year-old from Mount Prospect whose funeral was held Thursday.

Dominick's body was found Sunday morning in a car parked outside the Prospect Heights Library. Prospect Heights Police Chief Bruce Morris said Thursday that police still are collecting information and awaiting results of forensic testing of evidence and toxicology reports. They aren't yet able to say how she died, he said, declining to predict when that would be, but adding that the information would be made available as soon as possible.

"We are left with so many unanswered questions today," Rev. Bernie Pietrzak, pastor of St. Raymond de Penafort Church in Mount Prospect, said Thursday at Dominick's funeral.

"I have heard that she was filled with new hope these days and was putting her life together," Pietrzak said. "So many young people are here today and for most of you, it is your first experience with tragic death of someone your own age.

"The speed of your young lives is usually too fast for reflection, but I am sure that this has stopped you in your tracks and made you consider the delicate nature of human life. I hope that you will allow yourself to learn from the choices Gina made, which weren't always in her best interests."

Dominick's sister, Lisa, read an eulogy from an out-of-state friend.

Dominick, the daughter of Michael and Marianne Dominick, was a graduate of Prospect High School, High School District 214 officials said Thursday, correcting information a friend had given.
