Circus act tells crowd a tale

It's a circus ... in the form of a story.

This weekend, Glen Ellyn Park District is bringing Zoppé Family Italian Circus to Maryknoll Park, 845 Pershing Ave.

"This will be more intimate as opposed to the spectacular performance," Assistant Superintendent of Recreation Mary Defiglia said. "I think it's going to be a very historical kind of feeling, but with a lot of laughs."

The circus has traveled extensively throughout Europe and includes music, trapeze acts, clown antics and theatrical performances.

"I think I'm looking forward to the intimacy of this show because it's a story from start to finish," Defiglia said. "It's not just one act after another that doesn't really mean anything."

Performances will be at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Each of the six shows can accommodate about 500 people.

Tickets can be purchased the day of the show for $18 for adults and $10 for kids. Presale tickets are available Friday for Saturday and Sunday performances. They can be purchased at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center, Spring Avenue and Route 53, for $15 for adults and $8 for kids.
