D211 shouldn't have to pay prevailing wage
Why does the school district have to pay this artificial "prevailing wage"?
Everywhere everyone in the private sector is looking to cut costs. You would expect when tax dollars are being spent that the school districts have a fiduciary responsibility to maximize results with use of our money. No wonder they are broke and constantly looking for more money.
From the story, it seems that every project is doubled in cost due to this prevailing wage issue. What can be done to eliminate this cost doubling expense so the money can be focused on where it should be and maybe to build reserves so tax rates are not constantly being raised?
It seems that with the elimination of this artificial wage floor that the number of capital projects that need to be completed could be done for half the current cost. So you don't pay someone $50 per hour for a job that should pay $15 per hour and you contact the Department of Labor and they investigate.
The more I read about the abuses of our government the more I am disgusted. It is no wonder that everyone is apathetic. Maybe the football fields should have only cost $4.1 million and not $8.2 million. I support the board on its decision to hire Murphy Paving.
