Gurnee men plead not guilty to break-ins
Three Gurnee men accused of twice breaking into a village elementary school and stealing computers pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Lake County circuit court.
Dandre Jones, 22, Derek Sebben, 21, and Jonathan Villasana, 20, are charged with burglary, theft and criminal damage to state supported property.
Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Marykay Foy said the three are accused of breaking into O'Plaine Elementary School, 333 N. O'Plaine Road, on Aug. 5 and 12. The school is part of Gurnee Elementary District 56.
During the first break-in, Foy said, the trio broke a window to enter the school and stole 19 laptop computers worth about $20,000. On the second occasion, Foy said, a police officer alerted by a burglar alarm arrived on the scene while the men were still inside the building and arrested them.
Jones, of 4334 Finch Court, Apt. 1, Sebben, of Apt. 6 at the same address, and Villasana, of 1416 Clavey Lane, all face up to seven years in prison if convicted.
Circuit Judge George Bridges ordered all three to appear in court Sept. 24.
