Briefs: Raggedy Ann, Andy come to Gurnee

Warren Township High School will present "Raggedy Ann and Andy" at 7 p.m. today, and 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday at Warren Township High School's Black Box Theatre at the Almond Campus. "Raggedy Ann and Andy," a one-act play features seniors Elyse Weinberg as Raggedy Ann, and Darius Russelle as Raggedy Andy. Tickets cost $3 for students, $5 for adults and admittance is free for children under age 3.

Donate cell phones to help Best Buddies

Mundelein High School seeks donations of used cell phones and inkjet cartridges to help raise funds for its Best Buddies Chapter. The Best Buddies Chapter will receive money from Phoneraiser for each item collected. Phoneraiser is a company specializing in recycling and refurbishing used technology. Donations can be dropped off in the high school's front office, 1350 W. Hawley St. Best Buddies is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment.

Latina women sought to present Curves show

The College of Lake County hosts auditions at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22 and Tuesday, Sept. 23 to fill a cast of five Latina actresses ranging from age 18 to late-40s/early-50s for the play, "Real Women Have Curves." Auditions will take place in the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts' Studio Theatre, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake. Actresses should be prepared to read a short piece from the play or bring a 90-second memorized monologue. "Real Women Have Curves" brings to life a microcosm of the Latina immigrant experience through an empowering and universal message. Performances will be Nov. 14 to 22. Volunteers needed to collect seeds

Citizens for Conservation restoration volunteers have begun their fall seed collecting schedule and welcome new volunteers. The group works from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursdays and Saturdays, and 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sundays. They meet at Citizens for Conservation headquarters, a white farmhouse with a silo across from Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, 459 W. Route 22, Lake Barrington. Seeds from a variety of native plants are collected and used in CFC preserves in the Barrington area and also shared with nonprofit organizations for their local restorations.
