Kirk's law would make Internet safer

We all know that the Internet is a wonderful education resource for children. But it also poses real dangers. Children using popular social networking sites like MySpace or playing online games like SecondLife can become targets for online predators.

According to the Youth Internet Safety Survey conducted by the University of New Hampshire, 1 in 5 children have received a sexual solicitation while online. In response to these shocking findings, Congressman Mark Kirk sponsored the "Deleting Online Predators Act." This legislation would require libraries and schools to filter these sites to keep our children safe online while away from home.

Parents have come to realize that new technologies can bring new threats. Congressman Kirk is working to give parents and teachers the tools they need to protect their children from online sexual predators.

Congressman Kirk's efforts on behalf of our families has earned him our support.
