A commitment to the disabled

As parents of a Down syndrome daughter, now 42 years old, we are personally aware of the importance of early intervention and education programs specifically focused on the disabled individuals in our community.

With support, the disabled have proven to be productive contributors to our society.

That is why we are proud that Congressman Mark Kirk is a co-sponsor of the Everyone Deserves Unconditional Access to Education Act.

The act drastically boosts federal aid to schools educating special needs kids.

Currently the federal government oil pays for about 18 percent of special education costs. Under the act, the federal share would increase to 40 percent.

The extra money will ease the burdens on our public schools and make all the difference in educating these kids.

Kirk was recently endorsed by the Illinois Education Association and the National Education Association. His support of good legislation shows us why.

Kirk is committed to ensuring that every child, no matter where he lives or what special needs he may have, gets the best education possible.
