Lake Zurich High School recently launched its online Bear Facts publication. Dist. 70 asks residents' help:

Parents and residents of Libertyville Elementary District 70 are invited to a focus group at 7 p.m. Monday to help create a profile of the characteristics they want in a new superintendent. The meeting is at Highland Middle School, 310 W. Rockland Road, and will be led by members of the Illinois Association of School Boards. A report of the trends and traits established in the focus groups will be given to the school board at a future date. Residents are also invited to take an anonymous survey at D70schools.org. Superintendent Mark Friedman is retiring at the end of the school year after 17 years with the district. The new superintendent takes over July 1.

Highland Pk. mulls cameras:

Highland Park may install red-light cameras where Route 41 intersects Route 22 and Park Avenue West. City officials say there are a high number of vehicle crashes and injuries there. The Highland Park Traffic Commission is expected to discuss the issue at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22 at city hall, 1707 St. Johns Ave. Most Chicago-area communities with red-light cameras issue tickets to the owners of vehicles who commit violations.
