The media's lies and exaggerated truths

I am a disappointed media-misinformed voter.

"Bush's failed policies" and "McCain voted 90 percent of the time with Bush" are example of lies or exaggerated truths.

The Bush administration has had many good policies, but McCain didn't agree 10 percent of the time.

Many policies are not the responsibility of the president but of the Congress.

Home ownership is a good example. There were 17 million new home owners and then the market went sour putting 1 million of those with the possibility of foreclosure. That means that there are still 16 million new home owners.

The analogy that comes to mind, is the glass half full or half empty?

Foreclosures are the result of the lending industry's lack of policing itself. Unscrupulous appraisers and deceptive lending practices caused this situation.

If anyone is culpable, it is the Congress, which over the years received millions from lobbyists for lenders like Freddie Mac and Fannie May.

When you repeatedly lie and say "Bush's failed policies," people who don't have the time or will to check things out for themselves will believe that statement. That is something politicians know all too well and they are all doing just that.

How did the President become empowered with so much authority? Can he set gas prices, home values or anything else? The answer is no.

So why do untruthful statements continue? News media outlets like one candidate better than the other. Democrats want to defeat the Republicans and vice versa.

However the media and their reporters are heavily invested in the Democratic candidates.

They present skewed reporting. If the media did some serious investigative reporting, it would find that Bush looks better than what the Democrats keep saying, and there would be more serious questions asked of both Barack Obama and John McCain.
