Half Day bridge work

Travelers on the Tri-State Tollway can expect shoulder closures and temporary overnight lane closures for demolition and reconstruction of the Half Day Road bridge. Rebuilding and lengthening the bridge will allow the tollway to be widened underneath as part of an ongoing congestion relief project for a 45-mile stretch in Cook and Lake counties. The eastbound side of the bridge was closed Tuesday and traffic shifted to the other side with one lane open in each direction. Left turn lanes will remain open in each direction for Half Day Road traffic entering the tollway. The overall project began last year and is scheduled to be complete in 2010. Visit illinoistollway.com for more information.
