Hickrod's sincerity a plus for coroner

As a police officer working at the scene of a homicide, car accident, or a questionable death, the presence of the coroner is expected. Stan Hickrod has worked as a cop and knows how to keep a crime scene preserved, which is vital for any criminal investigation.

As animal lovers, we have our 13-year-old retired police canine partner at home. His days are short but knowing that there is a compassionate person like Stan Hickrod, who has one of the few businesses that offer families services for their pets, gives comfort to us. Stan knows pets are not animals to be tossed away; he knows that they are living beings with hearts and feelings.

With his 25 years experience in policing and as a funeral director, Stan has proved to be a good steward for the living, as well as the deceased.

We do not interact with a coroner by choice, nor should we care about his party affiliation. What we do know is that the coroner can make a great deal of difference when we are faced with the death of a loved one.

As well as being an experienced police officer and funeral director, Stan Hickrod is a sincere, kind and compassionate person, who will bring these qualities to the Kane County Coroner's office.
