How can Seals rip Kirk on veterans?
As a JFK Democrat and an Air Force veteran, I find it hard to understand how Dan Seals could support a political commercial criticizing Congressman Mark Kirk on veteran issues.
If it wasn't for Kirk, veterans in the Northwest suburbs would be traveling up to Milwaukee or to the West Side of Chicago for their medical care. Families of veterans hospitalized would be making that long journey to be with their loved ones.
Kirk fought to keep the VA facility in North Chicago open and along with Senator Richard Durbin, provided funding for the new James Lovell Va hospital at that location. To save taxpayers dollars and promote cost-savings, Kirk consolidated medical service at the VA Hospital in North Chicago with medical personnel from Great Lakes.
When this election is over, a truth commission should be established for all elections in the future to screen political ads for fact before airing them on the public air waves. Mr. Seals has every right to criticize Kirk on various issues, but never on Kirk's work for veterans.
