Kirk record shows support for veterans

Dan Seals' latest attack ad features an unnamed veteran attacking Congressman Mark Kirk for being bad for veterans.

When I first watched it I wondered why the veteran was unnamed. Now I know why.

The veteran appearing in Seals' ad isn't from the 10th district. He's not even from the Chicago area. He is from Peoria.

Now, why is a veteran from Peoria appearing in a 10th District ad? The answer is simple: Seals needed someone who doesn't know Kirk.

Area veterans know how good Kirk has been for them. They know that he saved the North Chicago Veterans Hospital. They know that he voted to ensure that every veteran can go to college for free.

Seals needed someone who didn't know that, whose only information on Kirk would be that which he got from the Seals organization.

I'm not angry at the veteran. I'm angry at Seals. I am angry he has taken advantage of a man who served honorably and made him his dupe.

Most of all, I am angry that Seals did not have the basic courage and decency to launch these attacks himself.
