Dist. 211 renews ID policy

Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 students will again be required to wear ID cards around their necks next school year. Day care changing hands

Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge is negotiating to transfer ownership of Lutheran General Children's Day Care to Kids Hope United, a private, not-for-profit organization. The change of ownership could be completed by May. Josie Disterhoft, director of Lutheran General Children's Day Care, said teachers, programs and services provided at four locations will not change. Lutheran General has offered day care for 30 years and now has two centers in Des Plaines as well as ones in Glenview and Wilmette. Lutheran General decided last year, though, that it should focus its resources on core hospital and clinical services. Kids Hope United offers a variety of programs to 15,000 children and families in four states. It currently has six child care centers in the Chicago area, including Elgin and Waukegan.
