Locally produced anthology helps missing kids

The Schaumburg Township District Library will host a book launch and signing party April 16 for an anthology written by area authors, including three staff members, to benefit the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

"Missing," released last week by Echelon Press, was conceived by Amy Alessio, a Roselle resident and teen coordinator at the Schaumburg library.

The 17 short stories in the book are by such local writers as J.A. Konrath, author of "Whiskey Sour," "Bloody Mary" and "Fuzzy Naval," as well as library staff members Susan Miura, Susan Gibberman and Alessio herself.

The launch party and signing will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. April 16 in the Rasmussen Room of the central library, 130 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg. Register by calling (847) 923-3347.

Mystery authors and police officers Michael Black and Dave Case will be there to conduct a missing person crime scene for audience members to solve.

"Missing" may be purchased immediately by visiting echelonpress.com and clicking on "Buy Direct Here."

It will soon be carried by many bookstores and Amazon.com as well.
