Still no arrests in baby death

Hanover Park police continue to investigate the death of an infant found unresponsive last week, but authorities said Wednesday they had no further updates on the case to release. Six-month-old Alexis Zavala was pronounced dead Feb. 20 after being taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates from a residence in the 1600 block of Ontarioville Road. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy Saturday, but a spokesman would only say the outcome was "pending further study," which could take four to six weeks. He would not say whether any obvious signs of trauma were found.

Road named to honor Madden

Schaumburg trustees have honored Michael Madden, the recently retired director of the Schaumburg Township District Library, by naming the private road on the east side of the library "Michael Madden Way." At Madden's last library board meeting in December, library trustees voted to forward a request for such action to the village board. Madden served for 41 years as director, growing the library from an almost rural facility to a nationally recognized leader of library service.
