Three taken to hospital after four-vehicle crash near North Aurora
Three people were injured, one seriously, in a four-vehicle crash that occurred about 4:30 p.m. Friday on Orchard Road between Oak Street and White Oak near North Aurora.
According to Kane County Sheriff's police, a white Chevrolet Lumina driven by Donald J. Adams, 56, of Coal City, Ill., crossed the center line and struck a red Toyota Tacoma truck. The Chevrolet was traveling east on Orchard Road, which is four lanes, and may have been passing a black Ford Escape that was also traveling east.
Police say that the Chevrolet was struck by a silver Nissan Altima that was traveling west on Orchard Rad after the impact with the Toyota. The Toyota spun after the initial collision and struck the Ford Escape.
Adams was taken by helicopter to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. He is in serious condition, according to Lt. Pat Gengler of the Kane County Sheriff's police.
Jorge A. Montes, 41, the driver of the Toyota, and Jorge P. Hernandez, 42, the driver of the Nissan, both of Montgomery, were taken to Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening, according to Gengler.
Allison M. Grala, 22, of Yorkville, driver of the Ford Escape, was released at the scene.
Kane County Sheriff's police and members of the Kane County accident reconstruction team are investigating the crash. The presence of alcohol or drugs has not been ruled out, and no citations have been issued, according to police.
