Nunamaker can take Fox River Grove forward

Fox River Grove voters can't go wrong with any of three strong candidates running for village president in the April 7 consolidated election.

Retired businessman Robert Nunamaker, Trustee Paulette Pelletier and former Trustee Suzanne Blohm would all be effective with only subtle differences separating them.

Each brings an energy and enthusiasm along with vows to improve village hall business, spur economic development and make the most of limited resources. The three differ on a few specifics but, largely, they agree the village's economic development needs and coping with economic challenges will be top priorities in coming months.

They all like the idea of a combined retail/residential condo development on Route 14 near the train station as well as cooperative government contracts to save limited funds.

Pelletier, a licensed civil engineer and realtor, vows to improve communications and focus on redevelopment.

Blohm, a registered nurse, previously served as finance chairman and the village's budget officer. Her focus is economic development and village finances.

Nunamaker is a retired Motorola vice president, realtor and school board member involved in village planning.

All would be effective, but we give our nod to Nunamaker who has the edge on business and leadership experience, a fresh perspective and a calm determination to make things better for this riverfront town that sometimes gets lost between more aggressive neighbors.
