Michels has vision for Sugar Grove

Incumbent Village President Sean Michels knows well the challenges facing this town poised for growth but on pause thanks to the national economic difficulties. Well-versed in transportation and economic development, he has clear vision for his community. He vows to continue the stringent building and open space standards and steep impact fees providing vital dollars to Sugar Grove as it readies for a resurgence in retail, commercial and industrial development.

His opponent, Perry Clark is a consultant who is a bit too sympathetic to developers and is way too willing to slash impact fees and building requirements. He says it's to spur a mix of housing to bring rooftops to lure commercial development. Given Sugar Grove's location, that development will come without sacrificing the stringent standards and fees that make this a top-shelf community.

In the race for trustee, incumbents Mary Heineman, running as a write-in, and Robert Bohler are fierce advocates to protect that quality of life and open space that make Sugar Grove unique. Her financial savvy will stand the village well during a tough economy and he has a good long-range view of the community's needs. Former trustee Joseph Wolf is a reasoned, experienced voice. Challengers David Paluch and Rick Montalto and incumbent Thomas Renk are also on the ballot. Heineman, Bohler and Wolf are endorsed.
