Art show scheduled

Mundelein High School's art department will present its 16th annual All-Student Art Show from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 and from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15. It will be held in the high school's main gymnasium, at 1350 W. Hawley Street. Drawings, paintings, jewelry and other pieces will be on display. Admission is free.

Investment in open space

Beth White, director of the Chicago office of the Trust for Public Land, will discuss how open space strengthens the business climate and boosts property values while preventing flood damage at the Liberty Prairie Conservancy's Food For Thought luncheon, at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 29 at the Peacock Restaurant in Vernon Hills. Participants will receive a 48-page publication of recent data. Reservations are required by April 23 at (847) 548-5989 ext. 33 or www.libertyprairie.org. The $45 fee includes membership in the Liberty Prairie Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that preserves wildlife habitat, farmland and other open space throughout Lake County.

Rollins Road talk

An open house regarding planning for road improvements at Route 83, Rollins Road and the Canadian National Railroad tracks are set for 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21. The Lake County Division of Transportation will provide information regarding the schedule and process, characteristics, opportunities for public input and basic information for the proposal in Round Lake Beach. Information on current and future needs and conditions on Rollins from Hook Drive to Mallard Drive and on Route 83 from Hook Drive to the Avon Center School will be presented. The session will be at the Cultural and Civic Center of Round Lake Beach. Call (847) 377-7447.

Children's used book sale in Lake Villa

The Friends of the Lake Villa District Library will have a used book sale from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at the library, 1001 E. Grand Ave., Lake Villa. The sale includes books and audiovisual items for children and young adults. For details call (847)-356-7711.
