Help District 103 plan:

Lincolnshire-Prairie View Elementary District 103 officials are developing a new five-year plan, and they'd like your help. The plan will cover facilities, education needs and other topics. Beach Books Sale at Lake Villa Library

The Friends of Lake Villa District Library will have their Beach Books Sale on Saturday, June 13 at the library, 1001 E. Grand Ave., Lake Villa. Community Services Director Liz Glazer said this is a great opportunity to stock up on books to read this summer. The sale will be in the lobby and run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For details call (847-356-7711 ext. 400.

The California look:

Author Stephen Salny will discuss his latest book on the life and work of the groundbreaking interior designer and inventor of the "California look", Michael Taylor at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 7. The lecture is at the David Adler Center, 1700 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville. Tickets for the lecture and reception are $45 per person. Call (847) 367-0707. Salny also wrote "The Country Houses of David Adler" and "Frances Elkins: Interior Design."

Gun, drugs found in traffic stop:

Ty C. Glissendorf, 39, of the 1000 block of N. Pleasure Court, Aurora, was hit with a variety of charges after an officer found him with a gun and cocaine during a traffic stop at 2:07 a.m. Wednesday, Round Lake Park police said. Police Chief George Filenko said Glissendorf was driving a Ford pickup truck when he was stopped for illegal lane usage at Hainesville Road and Lake Avenue. The arresting officer then detected an object in Glissendorf's pants pocket that turned out to be 1.2 grams of cocaine wrapped in a $50 bill, Filenko said. Before the truck was towed, the officer searched inside and discovered an unloaded .45-caliber semiautomatic gun behind the driver's seat, Filenko said. Glissendorf was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of drugs, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful use of weapon. Glissendorf was taken to the Lake County jail in Waukegan, but his bond information was not immediately available.
