It's that time again: Suburban festivals get into full swing

It's finally here - the start of a season full of reasons to get out of the house and enjoy, as suburban festivals and outdoor events get into full swing today.

Whether you're a bargain hunter, a festival aficionado or just want to find a place to kick back on your picnic blanket and listen to some live music, it's your time.

A garage sale to rival all garage sale begins today and runs through Sunday in Schaumburg, where the Timbercrest and Woods subdivisions conduct their 40th annual outdoor bargain fest.

More than 100 families are expected to be selling in the neighborhoods, which are south of Schaumburg Road, west of Roselle Road and north of Weathersfield Way, just west of Schaumburg's Town Square development. For the first time, the sale will run three day, beginning today, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If garage sales aren't your thing, lots of outdoor fests are under way tonight and through the weekend. The fest include live music, lots of great food, drinks, crafts for the kids and more.

Those running today, Saturday and Sunday include:

Carol Stream's Summer in the Center, at the town center, Gary Avenue and Lies Road.

The Taste of Des Plaines, downtown along Ellinwood Avenue.

Harvard Milk Days, Milky Way Park, Route 173.

Roselle's Rose Festival, Roselle Metra Station, Maple Avenue and Irving Park Road.

Taste of Wheaton, various downtown locations.

Then on Saturday:

Ray Bradbury Dandelion Wine Fine Arts Festival, Bowen Park, 39 Jack Benny Drive, Waukegan

The First Division Museum 65th anniversary of D-Day activities, Cantigny Park, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton.

On Saturday and Sunday:

Frontier Kite Fly Festival, 3380 Cedar Glade Drive, Naperville.
