Musical "Camelot" opens season for Ravinia

Ravinia Festival opened its season Friday night in Highland Park with the musical "Camelot." Tony winner George Hearn and two-time Grammy winner Sylvia McNair led the ensemble as returning Ravinia performers.

Ravinia celebrates its 105th season this summer with more than 100 performances for everyone's taste. Pop acts include Carrie Underwood, John Legend, Elvis Costello and the Indigo Girls.

Ravinia will also celebrate Abraham Lincoln's bicentennial with commissioned pieces from Jazz artist Ramsey Lewis on June 12. The annual Ravinia Gala on July 18 will also have a Lincoln twist with opera singer Jessye Norman narrating Copland's Lincoln Portrait.

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Kraft Kids Concerts also are scheduled for this summer.
