Lake Villa District library trustees sworn in:

The Lake Villa District Library board swore in new trustees at its June 8 meeting. Incumbent Anthony Gundrum was seated for a two-year term. Incumbent Michael Neubeck and newcomer Ira Kephart were seated for six-year terms. Outgoing board President James M. Daly was presented with a plaque to recognize his six years of service. The board selected the following officers: Michael Neubeck, president; Anthony Gundrum, vice-president; Caroline Jacobson, secretary; and Richard Wallens, treasurer. The Lake Villa District Library is at 1001 E. Grand Ave., Lake Villa.

Hop to it at Woodland Intermediate:

Woodland Intermediate School students are hosting the second Muscular Dystrophy Association Hop-a-Thon today as part of the fourth-quarter Golden Paw event. All of the intermediate staff and students will participate in the culminating event to support efforts made by the children to collect donations for the MDA. Following presentations by some Woodland students, participants will hop for a short time period. Two disc jockeys will keep the action flowing. Other activities are to include teacher-filled dunk tanks. "We have collectively met our positive behavior goals for the year," said intermediate school Assistant Principal Tim Tyrell, "and successfully reached our reading goals and measures of academic progress test scores, too."

Fox Lake Blood Drive:

Fox Lake will host a LifeSource Blood Drive in the Thillen Drive Chamber Room on Friday, 1 to 6:30 p.m. Donors can schedule an appointment by calling (847) 803-7943 or by signing up online at www.lsbrighten.org. Walk-ins are also welcome. All donors are asked to present a government-issued ID and fill out a questionnaire. The blood collection process takes about 10 minutes. Packaged snacks and refreshments will be available for donors. More information is available at www.lifesource.org.
