Walgreens walk-in clinics to test diabetes care
Diabetes care is coming to Walgreens.
The nation's largest drugstore chain plans a pilot program offering chronic disease care in its Take Care walk-in health clinics.
Initially, clinics in four regions will be involved and type 2 diabetes care will be offered first.
Walgreens Chief Executive Greg Wasson declined to specify where the pilot program will run.
There are 345 Take Care clinics in Walgreens stores in 19 states including Illinois. Until now they've mostly focused on routine health problems rather than chronic care.
Walgreens is based in Deerfield.
