Open letter to Grafton Township supervisor

Linda (Moore),

I had the honor of serving as a township supervisor - in Rutland Township, Kane County - for the past eight years, until my retirement in May. I followed your election with great interest and applaud your recent actions - suspending construction of the new, $3.5 million town hall and putting the question to a public referendum, while consolidating staffing.

A township board's primary role is a fiduciary duty to property taxpayers; they pay the bills. I have found it helpful to always keep that premise in mind when reviewing the numerous requests that come to a board for funding. With federal, state and local spending generally out of control, your leadership reigning in Grafton Township spending is quite notable.

Keep up the good work. Thank you for your dedicated public service.
