Ravinia scores hit with classical faves

Who was that rock star at Ravinia on July 12? Nothing less than the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

The place was packed. Combine an early start time of 5 p.m. with familiar, exciting classical pieces by Tchaikovsky that appealed to families such as "Nutcracker," "1812 Overture" and "Violin Concerto" and perfect weather to produce rock star-inspired attendance.

Bravo, Ravinia. Encore! Encore!
