Palatine Library says pick a card, any card

The Palatine library is encouraging residents who don't have library cards to sign up for one, or it will replace a lost card for free, during September.

As well, it is looking for the resident with the oldest library card to come forward and be celebrated. Bring in your well traveled card to the front desk of the main library or a branch for a chance to win a $30 book basket. The winner will be notified by Oct. 1.

Meanwhile, new cardholders will get either a complimentary book bag, book light or cell phone holder.

The Palatine Public Library District serves about 90,000 residents mostly in Palatine and Hoffman Estates. To replace a lost card, the library will waive the $2 replacement fee in September.

Bring two forms of ID, one with a photo, showing you live in the library district, to: the main library, 700 N. North Court, Palatine; the Freeman Road branch, 1262 Freeman Road, Hoffman Estates or the Rand Road Branch, in the Palatine Opportunity Center, 1585 Rand Road, Palatine. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
