New plan for Lake
The Lake County Board on Tuesday adopted its latest strategic plan, a document establishing strategies and desired actions for the future. The board adopts a new plan every two years. Within the next week, the plan will be made available online at lakecountyil.gov. It also will be available in printed form at the county government center in Waukegan and the transportation division office in Libertyville.
New Warren Township trustee
Bill Gill of Gurnee has been named to fill a vacancy on Warren Township's elected board. Gill replaces Carolyn "Sarge" Mahoney of Park City, who recently resigned her position and is moving out of Illinois. Mahoney had been a Warren Township trustee since 2001. Gill is a former township trustee who served on the board from 2001 to 2005. "We are grateful to Carolyn for her many years of service and we are excited to have Bill back on our board and our team," Warren Township Supervisor Suzanne Simpson said.
Low-cost pet vaccination
The Lake County Health Department's Animal Care and Control Program with Avon Township will offer a low-cost pet vaccination clinic from 9 a.m. until noon Sept. 26 at the township office, 433 E. Washington St., Round Lake Park. Pets will be taken on a first come first served basis. All animals brought to the clinic must be at least four months old. Dogs must be leashed and cats placed in carriers. Only cash is accepted. Call (847) 949-9925.
Kid's Hope United charity golf outing
Kid's Hope United in Lake Villa hosts its 19th annual charity golf outing Sept. 15 at the Bonnie Brook Golf Course in Waukegan. Registration is at 11 a.m., shotgun start at noon and dinner at 6 p.m. Tickets for golf, lunch and dinner are $225. Tickets for dinner only can be purchased for $50.
