ECC wins Region IV title

ECC wins Region IV championship: The Spartans captured the Region IV women's tennis championship this weekend, completing their second consecutive perfect season, with a score of 22 total team points. Waubonsee Community College was the runner-up with 15 total team points and College of Lake County finished third with 13 points.

Rachel Hegel was the No. 2 singles champion for the Spartans defeating Abby Ludwig of McHenry Community College 7-6, 6-4. ECC then crowned champions at single spots 4-6 as Megan Joyce defeated Katie Anklam (MCC) 6-2, 7-5, Dally Senesombath downed CLC's Megan Pazdernick 6-2, 6-4, and Lauren Ferry pitched a shutout against Jill Plock (WCC) defeating her 6-0, 6-0.

ECC also captured 2 out of the 3 doubles championships as well picking up victories at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 doubles. Rebekah and Rachel Hegel teamed up to defeat WCC duo Maureen Wagner and Liz Pfaff 6-3, 6-1 while Marlena Aleksieczyk and Senesombath defeated Mirka Illasova and Val Brezinski (CLC) 6-3, 6-4.

The top three finishers are invited to compete in the national tournament in Tucson, Arizona in May.
