Arlington patrons are generous indeed

Giving the gift of reading is a popular tradition among Arlington Heights readers. Arlington Heights Memorial Library's Holiday Book Drive collected 600 new children's books for donation for Wheeling Township's Adopt-a-Family Holiday Baskets.

To date, our generous community has contributed a total of 10,293 in the 12 years the library has sponsored its Holiday Book Drive.

Our community's generosity continued with the Library's first "Read & Feed" food drive. Contributions of more than 1,100 pounds of food were donated and delivered to food pantries at CEDA and Wheeling Township.

More than 410 pounds of pet food and items were also collected for the Buddy Foundation.

The library's book and food collections were supported daily by individuals and families when checking out books at the library; along with local book groups; staff at Toshiba Business Solutions, Rosseland Construction and Arlington Heights Library; and community groups including Post 208 American Legion Auxiliary and the Professional Women's Council of the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce.

Thanks to each of you who took time to shop for books and food to donate and share this holiday season. Your kindness to your neighbors in need is immeasurable!

Director of Community and Marketing, Arlington Heights Memorial Library
