Sente knows what's important to people

In the last few months we have seen sweeping cuts in many different necessary social service programs. Thankfully, newly elected Rep. Carol Sente has the background to realize how important these programs are to our children and the community.

Carol understands what it is like to go through difficult times. After her sister was killed in a car accident, Carol chose to honor her sister's memory by volunteering at Marcie's Place Children's Grieving Camp as a counselor working with children who have lost family members.

She was also a counselor at the YMCA's "I Am Me" camp for burn victims. After my husband's death Carol helped support and honor his memory by serving on the Sommer Foundation Board to help provide college scholarships to high school students who have lost a parent.

Just as her predecessor Kathy Ryg, Carol will fight to fund human service programs. She currently serves on the committees for Human Services Funding and Disability Services in the House.

Please join me in my support for Carol Sente on Feb. 2 in the Democratic Primary.
