Palatine Park District welcomes Falcon Park Recreation Center

It took 57 weeks to build and $11.5 million, but the Palatine Park District triumphantly cut the ribbon earlier this month that opened the Falcon Park Recreation Center.

The ribbon-cutting, on Jan. 9, was done at half-time of a basketball game in the gym.

Several youth athletic games took place, and spectators could watch from the sidelines or walk the track overlooking the gym.

There were more than 200 in attendance at the Grand Opening Ceremony with over 1,100 people coming through the facility that day.

After groundbreaking in November 2008, it took 57 weeks to complete the 49,000-square-foot building at 2195 N. Hicks Road.

The center has a banquet hall, indoor turf field, gymnasium with two basketball and three volleyball courts, a walking track, meeting rooms, classrooms and offices.

Some areas are available for rentals.
