Streamwoods teens arrested in St. Charles

Streamwood residents Ewelina Kopiczko, 18, of the 100 block of Azalea Circle; Walter G. Theide, 20, of the 100 block of Dato Court; Binita D. Martinez, 19, of the 400 block of Cahill Road; and Patricia C. Vargas, 19, of the 600 block of Lacy Avenue were arrested Tuesday, according to a police report.

Police responded to a hotel in the 100 block of South Tyler Road in St. Charles for a report of a group of 20-year-olds beating a girl in the hallway. Police arrived and found dried blood on Kopiczko's white tank top, though she denied being in a fight. Police also smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Kopiczko.

In subsequent questioning, she told police she was wrestling and staying at the hotel with her mother and her boyfriend. When police said they didn't believe her, she told them she was jumped by two girls.

Kopiczko then identified Vargas as one of the girls who jumped her. A witness then told police he saw Kopiczko hit Vargas in the face. Vargas then told police Kopiczko, Thiede, Martinez and her were in a hotel room when the fight began. Kopiczko and Martinez made fun of Thiede and Vargas tried to stand up for him.

That's when Kopiczko punched her in the face. Police found several empty beer cans and bottles of alcohol in the hotel room. All four were charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by minors. Kopiczko was also charged with battery.
