Roadhouse primed for epic MelodicRockFest 2

The RoadHouse in downtown Elgin will host a lineup of 20 bands this weekend for "MelodicRockFest 2."

Andrew McNeice, organizer and administrator of the Web site melodicrock.com, said 400 advance tickets have been sold for the event, which launches with a special acoustic set Friday and 12-plus hours of live music on Saturday and Sunday.

"It went so well (last year in South Bend, Ind.), I thought I'd do it again," said McNeice. "The RoadHouse made sense. It had all the criteria I was looking for. It's a fantastic venue. It's a stadium show in a club setting."

McNeice said the bands play music inspired by '70s, '80s and '90s rock bands like Bon Jovi and Def Leppard.

The bands Y & T and Danger Danger will headline Saturday and Winger and Trixter will top off Sunday's show.

Other guests include Jimi Jamison, formerly of Survivor, who will perform a solo set.

RoadHouse General Manager Geoffrey Sands said the RoadHouse, 200 Prairie St., has a great sound system and plenty of room for walk-up customers.

"We're the new hot venue," he said.
