Former Round Lake Deputy Fire Chief dies

John Pellettiere said his dad was not only a great guy and his best friend, he also devoted his life to public service as a member of the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District.

Former Round Lake Deputy Fire Chief Rocci Pellettiere died at his Round Lake home on Saturday, May 1. He was 70.

"He was known around town as a generous man," John Pellettiere said. "He would give you the shirt off his back or the last dollar in his pocket if he knew it would put a smile on your face."

Rocci Pellettiere was in the fire service for 25 years, eventually earning the rank of deputy chief. He retired from Round Lake in 1988.

A Chicago native, Rocci Pellettiere moved to Round Lake in 1953. He is survived by his wife and three children.

"He died peacefully in his sleep," John Pellettiere said. "He didn't suffer. It was his time and calling."
